Abstract

The leadership capacity of student organizations plays a strategic role in fostering adaptive, collaborative, and value-based organizational governance. However, the cadre development process in the Indonesian Islamic Student Movement (Pergerakan Mahasiswa Islam Indonesia/PMII) still faces challenges related to leadership competencies, organizational management, literacy culture, and the practical implementation of Ahlussunnah wal Jama'ah (Aswaja) values. This community service program aimed to strengthen the leadership capacity of the Executive Board of PMII Ponorogo Regency through participatory mentoring based on Aswaja values. The program employed a participatory mentoring approach consisting of needs assessment, workshops, organizational mentoring, monitoring, and evaluation. Data were collected through observation, interviews, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), and reflective evaluation during the implementation process. The results indicate that the mentoring program enhanced participants' understanding of Aswaja-based leadership principles, strengthened organizational management skills, improved collaboration and communication among cadres, and encouraged the development of literacy through structured work program planning. The mentoring process also promoted the internalization of the values of tawassuth, tasamuh, tawazun, and i'tidal in organizational leadership practices. The main contribution of this program is the development of an Aswaja-based participatory leadership mentoring model that integrates value internalization, leadership development, organizational governance, literacy strengthening, and community service planning. This model can serve as a practical reference for strengthening cadre development in student organizations with similar characteristics and may be adapted to broader organizational empowerment contexts.
